'’’Post-Truth’’’ is where the facts are immaterial to the outcome you want. Facts are interspersed with supposition and untruths to create an impression of a person or organisation that you want created. The idea is to appeal to the emotion of the reader to react to the subject of your post-truth in the way you want. This article is an example of a '’’Post-Truth’’’.

Daniel "Dan" Casey is a Labour politician and former Councillor for Jaywick’s Golf Green Ward in Clacton, which he won in a by-election with a majority of just five votes over his Conservative rival.[1]

Until 2 February 2017, Dan Casey served as vice-Chair of the Clacton Constituency Labour Party. He resigned from the Executive Committee with immediate effect, as did the Chair, Sam Atkinson, her 17-year-old daughter Danielle and the Treasurer and acting Secretary Chris Bird. No reason was given for their resignations.

Clacton West

On 19 February 2017, at a selection meeting chaired by Charlie Cochrane of the Essex Local Campaign Forum (ELCF), Dan Casey was selected as Labour candidate for the Clacton West division in the Essex County Council elections on 4 May 2017.[2] Tory Paul Honeywood was elected County Councillor for Clacton West, Dan Casey came second with 874 votes.[3]

Pride of Tendring

At the end of December 2016, Dan Casey was nominated for the Pride of Tendring award, along with many others:

"Dan was elected as a Tendring District Council Councillor in 2010 for the Golf Green Ward, but lost his position in 2015. During his time as a Councillor he worked tirelessly for Jaywick Sands and its residents. He still has many dealings with local residents, many of whom still approach him for information and assistance. He was instrumental in getting the funds and necessary requirements needed for the local library and hub and in getting it up and running.
Dan is a trustee there and was until recently its chairman. He will always go that “extra mile” when needed and runs quiz nights at Golf Green Hall monthly to raise funds for local groups. He is a member of Jaywick and Tudor Residents Association; Neighbourhood Watch (of which he the local chairman); the President of the Clacton branch of the Royal British Legion and deals with the welfare for the veterans, and is also treasurer on Jaywick Community Forum.
He is passionate about Jaywick Sands and always ensures that, as far as he possibly can, Jaywick is seen in a positive light.[4]

Keyboard warrior

On 20 January 2017, on Patrick Haseldine's Facebook page, Dan Casey wrote:

"Message for Mr Haseldine which was removed. I have never been right wing or left wing, Marxist, or Progress I am a old fashioned socialist and have supported Jeremy Corbyn and voted for him twice, but disagree with immigration policy that's what Brexit was all about and we have to think about what our voters want or we will not win any by-election or General Election. And your local election you stated did not want any support from the persons named in your statement, so because you lost maybe your campaign was the problem?"[5]
