Clare Daly is an Irish politician who has been a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Ireland for the Dublin constituency since July 2019.
Clare Daly is a member of "Independents 4 Change" – Confederal Group of the European United Left/Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL) – which is part of The Left in the European Parliament .[1]
Climate arson
On 6 September 2022, Clare Daly tweeted:
"World lurches towards climate breakdown, freak events, extreme weather, desperation everywhere... and the EU wants to incinerate the forests. Its 'green' response to a burning planet is to light more fires. This isn't climate action. It is climate arson."[2]
Ukrainian accusation
In July 2022, Clare Daly was accused by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of spreading two narratives described as Russian propaganda:
- that "sanctions against Russia make innocent people suffer;" and,
- that "Ukraine is in the middle of a proxy war between NATO and Russia."[3]
