Assassination

Official Narrative

Deep political killings are often explained away by so-called investigations or by the commercially-controlled media as being the work of so-called "lone nuts", while the perjorative "conspiracy theorist" is heaped upon anyone who questions this official narrative. Where killings have been openly admitted by intelligence agencies or military groups, they are seldom if ever termed as "assassinations" or "murders" by the commercially-controlled media unless carried out by "enemy" nation states. Euphemisms such as "targeted killing" are de rigueur.

Targeted Killing

The head of MI6 even ventured to say deny that the organisation had ever carried out assassinations. Until the case of Anwar al-Awlaki, the US government too refused to publicly admit it had a policy of assassinations. When this admission was publicly made, the BBC did not use the word "assassination", choosing instead to headline their report "US approves killing US-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki".

Wikipedia reports that "Targeted killing is the intentional killing – by a government or its agents – of a civilian or 'unlawful combatant' targeted by the government". It gives prominence to the ideas of Georgetown Law Professor Gary Solis, who in his 2010 book entitled "The Law of Armed Conflict: International Humanitarian Law in War" wrote that "Assassinations and targeted killings are very different acts". The phrase might have been designed to hide the true nature of the fact - many drone strikes are not of known individuals, but so - called "signature strikes", i.e. assassinations of unknown people based ont on their identity but on their behaviour, which is perceived (currently probably only by humans, but in the future quite possible by software) as suspicious.

Assassinations in US

US President Gerald Ford's Executive Order 11905 banned political assassinations, declaring that "No employee of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, political assassination." Citing numerous examples, Mark Gorton states that "The criminal forces within the national security state have a long history killing many people for the purposes of hiding the death of one, key, high profile individual."

The 9/11 event and subsequent Amerithrax scare was used to persuade the US congress to approve assassination of al-Qaeda purported leaders. People on the target list are considered military enemies of the U.S., and therefore not subject to ealier legislation. The US has not signed the International Convention against Forced Disappearance.

Operation 40

The CIA's Operation 40 is a secret group organised out of Miami station, constituted mainly of Cubans with aim of assassinating Fidel Castro. The group reportedly carried out multiple assassinations. Daniel Hopsicker and Mark Gorton have claimed that many members of the group were involved in the JFK Assassination.

9-11			Al-Qaeda "9-11/The 19 Hijackers" Zacarias Moussaoui	A complex and spectacular set of events in New York and Washington. The US government was quick to blame Al Qaeda, though no evidence of guilt was presented and there is much suspicion about what Al Qaeda really is. In the USA 9-11 assisted the Patriot Act's roll back of civil liberties, the stepping up of domestic surveillance and the financial advancement of the military industrial complex. Abroad 9-11 helped launched wars on Iraq and Afghanistan that had been planned long before.

Dallas occupy plot				A plot to assassinate leaders of Occupy Houston. Although the FBI knew about it, no arrests have been made. Tellingly, although documentary evidence exists, the corporate media has said almost nothing about it.
David Kelly/Assassination				On 17 July 2003, David Kelly allegedly committed suicide by swallowing 29 co-proxamol tablets and cutting to his ulnar artery (wrist) with a blunt pruning knife. He was writing a book exposing high level corruption at the time and had given no indication of depression. An official inquest was commenced but never completed.
Diana Spencer/Premature death				A highly suspicious event.
EgyptAir Flight 990				Unclear plane disaster. The NTSB concluded this was a deliberate act, the ECAA disputed this conclusion.
