An Antonov 26 transport plane of the Ukrainian Air Force crashed near Izvaryne, near the Ukraine-Russian border in an area were heavy fighting was going on. All eight on board were said to have parachuted from the plane.

According to the Press Service of the President of Ukraine, the airplane was flying at an altitude of 6500 m at the time it was hit. According to a military spokesman four people were rescued by Ukrainian forces and two are in captivity. The fate of the remaining two is still unknown, though authorities assumed both have died. aviation-safety.net

"A picture taken on July 14, shows the wreckage of a Ukrainian Antonov-26 military transport plane after it was shot down by a missile in the village of Davydo-Mykilske, east of Lougansk near the Russian border. Residents say that at least some of the crew were able to parachute from the plane before it crashed, but they did not know where they landed."Ukraine says plane shot down by rocket from Russia.

Note: Davydo-Mykilske (Davydo-Mykil's'ke, Luhans'ka oblast) map is more than 'near' the Russian border - it's on the Russian border.
