A type of drugs prescribed to sufferers of depression

Antidepressant drugs are prescribed to sufferers of depression, a severe and disabling mental health condition, which is currently widespread, particularly in "developed" countries.

SSRIs

SSRIs are a modern class of drugs that are used for this purposes, although they can have serious side effects.

Psilocybin

In 2019, research was ongoing into use of psilocybin, which is well tolerated and has achieved promising results. Its illegality hampers research, as does the fact that since it is naturally occurring, it does not fit the patentable model of big pharma.[1]
