Victor Joseph Dzau is a Chinese-American doctor and academic.[1][2][3] He is President of the United States National Academy of Medicine.[4]

Career

Dzau "has led the National Acedemy of Medicine's response to COVID-19, which includes numerous committees, reports, consultations and communication on a range of issues including public health, vaccine allocation, health equity and mental health." Under his tenure, the NAM launched a Grand Challenge in Climate Change and Human Health & Equity "to reverse the negative effects of climate change on health and social equity by activating the entire biomedical community, communicating and educating the public about climate change and health...and leading bold action to decarbonize the health care sector.[5]

He was on the Board of Health Governors of the World Economic Forum and chaired its Global Agenda Council on Personalized and Precision Medicine.

Dzau sits on the board of the Imperial College Health Partners[6] and the Health and Biomedical Sciences International Advisory Council of Singapore.[7] He also chairs scientific advisory committees for the Qatar Precision Health Institute and the Qatar Genome Programme, the Scientific Boards of the Peter Munk Cardiac Center of University of Toronto, and the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences of University of Glasgow.[8] He is a member of the board of directors of the Institute of Health Evaluation and Metrics[9] and on the board of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations.[10]
