Talk:Dag Hammarskjöld
Feedback
On 23 May 2014, I addressed this email headed "UN to Reopen Dag Hammarskjöld Death Inquiry" to Joe Lauria at the Wall Street Journal (<newseditor@wsj.com>), copying to 98 unidentified recipients:
- Dear Joe,
- Your article in last Monday's Wall Street Journal was an eye-opener for me. Let's hope the UN General Assembly votes in 2014 to reopen the adjourned 1962 Inquiry into the Dag Hammarskjöld plane crash in September 1961. I was particularly intrigued when you wrote "Katanga's uranium was used in the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombs, and keeping the uranium from a pro-Soviet Congo was also a CIA priority, the Hammarskjöld Commission said."
- Do you think the CIA was involved in Dag Hammarskjöld's death? Or, like Patrice Lumumba's murder in January 1961, it was organised by Britain's MI6?
- Cheers,
- Patrick Haseldine
- Emeritus Professor of Lockerbie Studies
Joe Lauria has not yet responded, but copy addressee Lord Lea of Crondall sent me this reply:
