Robert Aaron Potter is an Australian businessman in the cybersecurity industry,[1] part of the military-industrial complex.
In June 2023, he was mentioned as a "mystery man"[2] in an arms sale to Ukraine, selling scrapped Australian warplanes, even though it was "unclear how many of the F-18s are still operable" [3]
He is also a go-to expert for corporate media when they are looking a fitting quote on in the propaganda war against China, North Korea, or others, coming with just the right "exposures" based on his company's "analysis". These narratives are incidentally also good for his company's business.[4][5][6][7]
Career
In March 2019 Potter co-foundered the cyber-security company Internet 2.0, that specializes in cybersecurity technology, digital forensics and intelligence analysis across Latin America, the Middle East and Australia, also working on behalf of the US State Department.[8][9]
The company has taken on large contracts in Ukraine during the war with Russia, training the "Ukraininan IT army". Representatives of Internet 2.0 signed a corporate agreement with the Ukrainian government, which agreed to conduct cybersecurity trainings for Ukrainian IT experts. An international agreement was also signed between Ukraine and Australia with the support of the White House. Potter states that his powers "comply with the current legislation and my activities are legal". The company also uses offensive cybersecurity attack strategies – simulating cyber attacks that reveal vulnerabilities in the security system.[10]
Media work
His media exposure around Chinese PCR purchases in the months leading up to the first known COVID-19 cases attracted significant interest in corporate media[11].
Potter has also analyzed data on behalf of the the Australian government in relation to Chinese PCR purchases in the months leading up to the first registered COVID-19 "cases".[12][13][14]
Potter and Internet 2.0 have also been instrumental in helping interpret mass Chinese government surveillance database leaks.[9] The company has also tracked what it deemed Chinese cyber-attacks against Uyghurs and Australian activists including Drew Pavlou and Vicky Xu.[15][16]
TikTok is required to support China’s ‘national security objectives’.[5] TikTok is also doing ‘aggressive’ data harvesting.[6]
People who doubt his narrative on Xinjiang on Yutube, or other corporate social media are "fake bots"[17]
"Cyber attacks" on Australian government and industry bodies are "most likely being directed by China's premier intelligence agency in retaliation for banning telco Huawei from the 5G network".[18]
