The University of Gdańsk is a university founded in 1970 in Gdańsk. It arose, following a decision by the Council of Ministers, from the merger of the Business School in Sopot (established in 1945 as the Maritime Business School) and the Pedagogical University in Gdańsk (established in 1946).
In the 2003/2004 academic year, it had 33,000 students in 26 major programs and 106 additional programs.
