Escalante, whose service was vaunted for its U.S. spy network, claimed that the Texas group was headed by George H. W. Bush and Jack Crichton.”

Fabian Escalante wrote in The Secret War: CIA Covert Operations Against Cuba, 1959-62 that Jack Alston Crichton and George H. W. Bush were active in raising funds for Operation 40.[2]
