Merja Hannele Ylä-Anttila is the CEO of YLE, the Finnish public broadcasting TV and radio channels. She is a member of the Trilateral Commission.

Career

Ylä-Anttila enrolled as a student at Kauriala High School in Hämeenlinna in 1979.[1] She originally joined MTV as a summer editor for newly established news in 1982. She worked, among other things, as a domestic journalist and for a long time as a policy journalist and editor-in-chief before becoming editor-in-chief in 2001.

From 2001 to 2018, she worked as the editor-in-chief of MTV3's news and current affairs programs.[2] In 2015–2018, Ylä-Anttila was the CEO of the content production company Mediahub Helsinki, which produced MTV's news editorials.[3] Ylä-Anttila also served as Deputy CEO of MTV.

In April 2018, Ylä-Anttila was elected CEO of YLE. Ylä-Anttila is the second woman to be the director of YLE after Hella Wuolijoki.[4]

Merja Ylä-Anttila is a member of the board of the Association of Editor-in-Chiefs. In 2011, she was appointed to the board of Save the Children[5]. Ylä-Anttila has been the Chairman of the Board of PALTA, for employers in the service sector, since the beginning of 2021.[6]
