Career

Harrington is a graduate of Denison University, and an expert in corporate positioning, reputation management and crisis communications.

He has lectured on The role of peer and influencer voices to tell a brand story, where "the trust deficit has emerged as a critical priority for government, corporates, and not-for-profits alike as we seek to enhance relationships with customers and the community in a disruptive age".[2]

He has worked nearly 35 years at Edelman Consulting, including work for hundreds of clients across nearly every industry sector. His previous leadership roles at Edelman include president of the US and president of the Eastern and Western regions. He also led the initiative to create Edelman’s code of conduct.

A Quote by Matthew Harrington

Event 201“I also think we are at a moment where the social media platforms have to step forward and recognize the moment to assert that they're a technology platform and not a broadcaster is over. They in fact have to be a participant broadcasting accurate information and partnering with the scientific and health communities to counterweight, if not flood the zone, of accurate information. Because to try to put the genie back in the bottle of the misinformation and disinformation is not possible.”18 October 2019Event 201
