Jonathan Davis is the head of the Raphael Recanati International School and Vice President for External Relations at the IDC Herzliya in Israel.[1]

Davis was born in England and raised in the United States. He was educated at Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. He earned a BA in Jewish History and in International Relations from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and pursued graduate studies at Tel Aviv University in the economics of developing countries.[2]
Career
A biography prepared for the Herzliya Conference website describes Davis's military career as follows:
- Jonathan Davis served in a paratrooper reconnaissance unit that was commanded by former Minister of Defense Shaul Mofaz. This unit executed many behind-the lines missions, including a mission on the Syrian-Iraqi border during the Yom Kippur War.[3]
Subsequent career
According to the Herzliya Conference website, Davis filled the following roles prior to joining the IDC Herzliya:
- Prior to this position, he was Director of the Division for Development and Public Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and also filled senior roles in the coordination of social and cultural services to immigrants, actively participating in the rescue of Ethiopian Jewry during "Operation Solomon" and promoting immigration from the FSU, North America and South Africa.[4]
IDF Spokesperson's Unit
According to the Herzliya Conference website, Davis remains a reservist in the IDF Spokesperson's Unit:
- Davis serves as a reserve officer in the IDF Spokesman’s Office briefing foreign journalists, escorting dignitaries and lecturing on the situation in the Middle East. During the Second Lebanon War, Major Jonathan Davis briefed hundreds of foreign journalists and appeared on numerous networks on behalf of the IDF Spokesman’s Office.[5]
HelpUsWin
During Operation Cast Lead, Israel's invasion of Gaza in December 2008-January 2009, Davis worked with StandWithUs and Dr Noam Lemelshtrich-Latar of the Sammy Ofer School of Communications, to prepare IDC students with relevant information for the HelpUsWin.org social networking campaign in support of the offensive.[6]
