Stephen Barclay is a British Conservative politician who was appointed UK/Environment Secretary on 13 November 2023 to succeed Thérèse Coffey.

Steve Barclay was previously Health Secretary from July to September 2022, when he was dismissed by Liz Truss. On 25 October 2022, Rishi Sunak reappointed him to that position.

He was Minister for the Cabinet Office and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster from September 2021 to February 2022.

He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for North East Cambridgeshire since the 2010 United Kingdom General Election.[1]

Steve Barclay served as Lord Commissioner of the Treasury from 2016 to 2017 and Economic Secretary to the Treasury from 2017 until 2018. After the January 2018 cabinet reshuffle, he became Minister of State at the Department of Health and Social Care; Barclay was appointed Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union in November that year following the resignation of Dominic Raab. He was in the role until Brexit in January 2020.

He expressed regret that the government "got it wrong" over the Owen Paterson saga.[2]
