Not to be confused with British British performance artist Mark McGowan Mark McGowan is an Australian politician who is currently Premier of Western Australia. During COVID-19 he has enjoyed record-breaking approval rating for an Australian premier of 88%.

He has implemented extremely draconian policies; banning unjabbed adults from museums, Perth Zoo, gyms, and the entire Crown Casino complex, and even dining at cafes, pubs and restaurants in the state from 31 January 2022, and redfining the term "fully vaccinated" to include endless booster shots.[1]

Career

Vaccine take-up in the aboriginal community is low.

At the 2021 election, he led his party to an even larger majority, winning 53 out of 59 seats in the Legislative Assembly, the largest victory in terms of both vote share and proportion of lower house seats occupied in any Australian state or federal election since federation. The opposition liberals were nearly wiped out, giving McGowan ultimate control of the state.[2] The election saw universal postal voting.

In January 2022, he made a video that was widely described as patronising and racist. In a clip supposed to promote the COVID-19/Vaccine to indigenous Australians, he spoke broken English and was "translated" into aboriginal English by an indigenous elder.
